Baking with Samuel

Tonight, Tyrone took Charlotte to run errands, so that left me and Samuel to spend time together.  First we had to clean the kitchen and pick up toys, then it was time to make cookies. Samuel is Ready! Samuel loves cookies and watching me work in the kitchen, so tonight I combined the two to make Snickerdoodles.  I haven't had very good luck making GF Snickerdoodles, they always seemed to run.  One time I improvised and made them in muffin tins, they kinda looked like reverse volcanos.  Thanks to the yummy ones my friend Megan made, I thought I'd give them one more try. I used this recipe from Betty Crocker,  Snickerdoodles , I just modified it with Brown Rice Flour and Xanthan Gum.  I think the Xanthan Gum was key,  I'd been out for a while and finally had some, what a difference. Today was different...

I got the car today! Well, that's not the only thing that made today different.  Charlotte slept from 330a - 9am, ate and then went back to sleep until almost 1pm.  I even got 8 hours of sleep, not consecutive but with only a 2 hour break at 2am.  I also got out of the house from 915am - 4pm. Charlotte and I started out heading to MOPS (mother's of preschoolers) for the 1st time.  Samuel got to stay home and spend the morning with Daddy. MOPS was fun, there was new friends and old friends, breakfast, COFFEE, and today a clothing swap.  I didn't find anything for Charlotte but left some of Samuel's old stuff.  Every other Thursday is now Mommy and Charlotte time. After MOPS we headed home and Tyrone let me have the car for the rest of the day!  I dropped Tyrone and Samuel off at The Taco Place (I don't remember the real name) and headed to my mom's house. Since I had the car I had to drive somewhere, I couldn't go back home, where's ...

Today's View

What a gorgeous day! The View from my Treehouse today I didn't get my walk this morning but it was still a good day.  I'm starting to get the hang of this mother of two thing.  I just need one of them to be sleeping while the other is awake, but this means that Charlotte has to sleep the whole time. The day started with breakfast for everyone, except me.  Mommy took a shower instead, and it was totally worth it.  I did find some coffee followed by a load of laundry. Lunch for Samuel meant breakfast for Mommy.  After 'Brunch' we shared a green smoothie and Me-Maw came over.  She brought our box of organic fruits and veggies.  It was full of yummy stuff for more smoothies and Potato Leek soup for dinner.  This made dinner plans easy, no stressing over what should I fix. After Me-Maw left, Charlotte was hungry.  While I feed Charlotte, Samuel and I played with his alphabet flashcards.  He loves his flashcards, but he k...

A new treehouse...

Now that we have two kids, I've been thinking about how they will need their own rooms and a yard to run around in. I've been working on a list of needs/wants in my head for a new house but haven't committed anything to paper.  I figure telling my blog will keep me accountable. My Style I love old houses!  I like the historical homes in downtown Everett but I also like the 50s and 60s homes in View Ridge.  The biggest problem with these houses is often they only have 1 bathroom.  Now that we have a daughter I know we will need two bathrooms. My neighborhood of View Ridge is filled with cute homes that haven't been altered.  Most are brick too, I love brick.  They all have cute yards and some even have garages. My Wants 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms fenced yard garage cute neighborhood Neighborhood I think I might be too picky about the neighborhood.  I love living near the water too much to leave it.  We hear the sea...

I survived...I think

Tyrone went back to work today.  This is very exciting because that means Casino Road Ministries is up and running for the new school year.   So for the next 9 months, Tyrone will be heading to work about 2pm on Monday and Wednesday and 11am on Tuesday and Thursday. I still have 5 weeks of maternity leave left to figure out how this will work when I go back to work. So on to today's adventure... 150p  Changed Charlotte's diaper, she promptly peed on everything.  Impromptu bath from the waist down followed by new clothes. 2p  Tyrone leaves for work and Samuel starts building tunnels and bridges with his legos 205p  Charlotte decides she's hungry 208p  Samuel tells me he needs to go potty.  We haven't officially started potty training but when he asks to sit on the potty we let him.  So I set Charlotte on the floor outside the bathroom and wait... 210p  Samuel's 'All Done Mommy' The ne...

3 Weeks Yesterday...

As of today I have been the mom to two kids for 3 weeks and 1 day. Wow!  There was a point in time where I thought I'd never have kids.  After we got married we still thought we wouldn't have kids.  After a year and a half of blissful married life, we had a miscarriage.  This got us thinking, maybe one kid would be kinda fun.  Samuel was born two months after our 3rd anniversary. Samuel was so much fun.  A cute little person to hold and love, to explore the world through his eyes.  He fit right into our life.  He was almost too relaxed.  Samuel wasn't big on eating so he slept alot and didn't gain much weight at first.  Once we got the weight gain on the right track he was still an awesome sleeper.  He started sleeping through the night at 2 months.  He almost never cried and was happiest playing on the floor. After Samuel turned one, we thought we had this parenting thing figured out, so why not try for another...
